Dividing his time between the United States and France, James Berg performs as a poet, storyteller and musician. Often collaborative, his songwriting has been produced by American folk/rock musicians and was included on Old Shoe’s CD, Family, named by WXRT as best Chicago album of 2013. James’s music was most recently included in the July 2016 release of Paul Priest’s album, The Acme Hotel, and his poetry was most recently published also in July in While You Were Waiting by Poems While You Wait in Chicago. His past and upcoming poetry, fiction and nonfiction are available in Paris at Shakespeare & Company bookshop through Spoken Word Paris and Paris Lit Up publications. James taught college rhetoric, literature, grammar, composition and creative writing as full-time department coordinator for 14 years at The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago. He has a Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition Pedagogy from DePaul University and is currently completing an MFA in Creative Writing at Northwestern University.
